Our story

Our story

I’ve always had a weakness for anything that gets a little… or a lot… « About heated up »!

In the early 2000s, I sold hot sauces from all over the world. But in 2012, it all really started… at home. The overly spicy sauces I brought home often ended up in the fridge because they were too intense for my four daughters! So I started creating my own recipes: spicy, yes… but above all, flavorful.

The name About SAMHOT comes from Tomas, my son, which, written backwards, about SAMOT — to which I added the H for the HOT side of things.

As for the frog, this nickname sometimes given to Quebecers has become a deliberate joke here. Inspired by tropical poison dart frogs, small, colorful… but formidably stinging and venomous, it commands respect while also being amusing.

The character of about SAM came to life thanks to the talent of André Martel, a brilliant illustrator who was able to give shape to this intrepid frog.

It’s hot, isn’t it? No, it’s… SAMHOT ! 🐸🔥
